Cancer; his daughter, and Yui. He doesn’t think that Mousse has the potential or hope that Yui put into him. He is hypocritical, and proud. |

He also has the tendency to express his political and social views to gain attention. He later becomes Gendou’s second in command at NERV.He creates Rei in Yui's image, as ordered by Gendou, and assist him in bringing about Gendou's version of the Human Instrumentality Project.
